Based in Cairns, Far North Queensland, Beams incorporates new and raw talent across Music | Performance | Exhibitions.

Beams aims to develop Far North Queensland’s youth arts sector (12 – 30 years of age) by nurturing talented artists, artsworkers, entrepreneurs, and go-getters.

Beams showcases solo and ensemble acts, bands, instrumentalists, DJ’s, theatre, dance, spoken word, mixed media, site specific sculpture and installation, photography, film, and everything fresh and zany Far North Queensland youth can produce!

Beams belongs to Far North Queensland’s young people. It is led as a non-profit joint venture by 18 – 30 year old professionals who are themselves artists who strive to support each other, show the strength of their region’s creatives, and grow their sector. These energised, passionate, skilled, and creative coordinators are mentored by industry professionals.

Beams is much more than a one-day event; with year-round activities and professional development, Heyday is a creative core.

The inaugural Beams Festival showcase takes place on 6 October 2012 at Arthouse, Cairns.
